St Bronagh's Primary School, Rostrevor

Tionól na Scoile

16th Jan 2026

This week’s whole-school assembly celebrated prayer, everyday holiness, and the values that shape life in St Bronagh’s.

We began by reflecting on the power of prayer. Following our prayers before Christmas for the children of St Mary’s School in Papiri, Nigeria, we shared the news that all the children have now been safely returned. This was a powerful reminder for our pupils that prayer matters and that God listens, especially to the prayers of children.

Our main focus was the theme of Catholic Schools Week 2026: “Catholic Schools – Normal Lives, Called to Holiness. Pupils explored what holiness really means. It's not about being perfect or extraordinary, but living like Jesus in ordinary, everyday moments through kindness, forgiveness, courage, and love. We were inspired by the story of Saint Carlo Acutis, a young person who showed that it is possible to live a holy life while enjoying football, friendships and technology. His life reminded us that holiness is something our young people can live out right now.

Looking ahead to Catholic Schools Week, we shared how each day will highlight different ways we live out holiness in St Bronagh’s through prayer, friendship, family life, service, courage, joy and mission.

A special highlight of the assembly was the presentation of the Gradam an Phríomhoide (Principal’s Award), with a focus on our recent school value of Resilience. Congratulations to Maddox, who was recognised for his determination, perseverance and positive attitude when faced with challenges. He is a wonderful role model for our whole school community.

We also introduced our next school value: Respect, reminding pupils of the importance of kindness, good manners, listening, and caring for one another and our school environment.

The assembly concluded with our Réalt na Seachtaine certificates, birthday celebrations, a PATHS message about stopping gossip to help create a safe and happy school and a final prayer.
