St. Bronagh’s most cherished bird table has been restored to it’s former glory by Brendan Foley, Mrs Lundy’s father.
The original bird table was hand crafted by Tommy Owens, the caretaker of St. Mary’s Boys' School in 1987 using natural materials including 4 wooden rulers along the base. Many birds came to visit this fine feeding station which Primary Sevens named “Mc Birdies Flythrough” and to sample the tasty meal worms and seeds the children left.
However, over time, the base and roof of the table had rotted and we all thought it was destined for the skip, but instead we sent it to Mr Lundy’s father, Brendan, to see if he could restore it. Brendan spent many hours salvaging the parts he could and replacing the base and roof with pieces of wood he had in his workshop.

The Primary Seven children were delighted with their newly restored bird table and look forward to see birds dine once again in this fabulous bird table which demonstrates the skills of two remarkable craftsmenπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
