School Assembly - Misneach

6th Mar 2026

We gathered together for our seventh whole-school assembly of the year and, as always, we began with prayer. Our candle was lit to remind us that God is always with us, and we took a moment to think about those who are less fortunate than ourselves, especially innocent people around the world who are suffering because of war.

The focus of this month in school is our value of courage - misneach.

During the assembly, the children listened to a short story about a boy called Senán who showed courage in simple ways throughout his day. He helped a younger pupil who was being laughed at in the playground, chose to complete his spelling test honestly and told the truth during a football match even when it meant his team lost possession.

It was a good reminder for everyone that courage is not always about big, dramatic moments. Often it is about doing the right thing when it would be easier not to. In school we can show courage by trying something new in our learning, putting our hand up to share an idea, standing up for what is right, including someone who might feel left out, telling the truth, or asking for help when we need it.

We also took time to celebrate the fantastic success of our pupils at Feis an Dúin in Castlewellan last weekend. St Bronagh’s was the most successful school at the event, with more winners than any other school. What made it even more special was the number of pupils who took part and represented the school with confidence and pride. Tá muid an-bhródúil astu.

Congratulations to all who participated

As always, teachers also recognised pupils from each class who are making a positive contribution to school life through their effort, kindness and attitude. Maith sibh go léir.

We finished our assembly with our final prayer and hymn before returning to class for the rest of the day.
