As part of our Food Glorious Food topic, P2 have been learning about how to keep food fresh by observing how apples change over time. We completed a fun experiment to find out which liquids help stop an apple turning brown. Linking in with our Instructional Writing, we focused on bossy verbs:

1. Cut the apple into four slices. (Mrs Poland did this part!)

2. Put the apple into the bowls.

3. Pour the liquid into the bowls.

4. Wait 1-2 hours.

5. Look at the apple slices.

We made predictions about which one would stay the freshest and we recorded our predictions and our results.

“Milk made the apple go creamy.”

“Lemon juice kept the apple white.” “It is the freshest.”

“The one with nothing made the apple go brown.” “The air did that.” “You should put a lid on it next time.”

Excellent experimenting, P2!
