Girls' Team reach Ulster Final.

21st Mar 2024

On Tuesday 20th March, our Girls' Indoor Football Team travelled to Magherafelt to compete in the Ulster finals against other primary schools representing Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Donegal, Fermanagh, Monaghan and Tyrone. We were drawn in a group with teams from Armagh, Monaghan and Tyrone and after three very closely fought matches, we qualified for the semi-finals to face Scoil an Choimhin from Donegal, who had won the other section. Our girls played fantastically well in the semi-final and won their way through to the final on a score line of 2-4 to 2-2. In the final we met St Dympna's PS from Tyrone, who we had already beaten in our league section. After a brilliant game of football which was a credit to both teams, St Dympna's PS emerged victorious on a score line of 1-5 to 1-2. The whole competition was a fantastic advertisement for primary schools girls' football, with every match being so competitive. The girls from St Bronagh's PS were obviously disappointed not to bring the cup back home to Rostrevor, but they have so many reasons to be proud of themselves as they played some brilliant football throughout the competitions at South Down level, at Down level and ultimately at Ulster level. They have been fantastic ambassadors for our school and a real pleasure to accompany on this journey.
Many thanks to Mr Ronan Mc Cartan, Mr Murney, Mrs Clarke and Mr Sean Gordon for their support throughout the campaign. Also thanks to St Bronagh's GAA Club for their continuing support with transport arrangements, and finally thank you to the supporters who made the long journey to Magherafelt to cheer the girls on. Your presence was very much appreciated.
