Primary 4 had a fantastic, fun-filled visit from local author Declan Carville as part of their narrative writing topic!
Declan took the children behind the scenes of storytelling and showed them how a simple idea can grow into a real book. They loved listening to some of his most popular stories and discovering where his ideas came from. They also explored illustrations and were excited to spot lots of familiar sights from Rostrevor in his books!
The children asked lots of super questions and were excited to learn that Declan’s favourite story is Hansel and Gretel! To finish off the session, primary 4 became authors themselves and worked together to write the second chapter of their favourite story ‘The Magic Harp’.
What an inspiring visit that filled the Primary 4 classroom with imagination and supported the development of a love for writing!
