St Bronagh’s Primary School is situated in the picturesque coastal village of Rostrevor overlooking Carlingford Lough. Established in 2006 (following the amalgamation of Convent of Mercy Girls and St Mary’s Boys Primary Schools) we have 23 members of staff and 182 pupils aged from 4-11.
Our new school premises are currently being built on the former Convent of Mercy/Youth Club site and it is hoped that we shall be able to move across in April 2017.
Our staff and governors are dedicated to supporting each child achieve their full potential through the delivery of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. We are committed to delivering a varied programme of extra-curricular activities through our after school clubs and also provide an After School Programme from 2-3pm for children in P1, P2 and P3 year groups.
We work closely with other local schools through Shared Education, Extended Schools and Transition Projects.
Our annual school sports day was held 15th June in Kilbroney Park. It was a wonderful event and the children all enjoyed participating in the races and the ice cream treat afterwards. Our new school project is nearing completion and we hope to begin moving on Wednesday 28th June. It’s an exciting new chapter for St Bronagh’s and we look forward to welcoming students to our new school on Friday 1st September 2017 for the Autumn term. Our current P7 students will have a special day in the school before the end of the year as their P7 Retreat Day will be held in the new school building before the end of this term.
We are delighted that we have retained our "Green Flag" Status and continue to be regarded as an Eco-School. The new flag is now proudly hanging at the front of our school alongside a new Junior Entreprenuer flag to mark the success of our P7 JEP ‘Melting Moments’ company initiative in April 2017.
Eco-Schools is a recognised award scheme, rewarding and accrediting schools who have made a commitment to continuously improving their environmental performance. It is also a learning resource, raising awareness of environmental issues through activities that link to curriculum subjects.
Our pupils are active ‘eco-warriors’ and are led by a very enthusiastic ‘eco-council’. Mrs Downey and her eco-team have worked tirelessly on many environmental schemes and we congratulate them on their achievement. We are absolutely delighted to fly the “Green Flag” for another two years.
